The Coalition supports member school districts in their continuous efforts to improve the academic performance of their students through the following initiatives.

The Coalition, in cooperation with the Higher Education Council of Berks County and member school districts, facilitates 8th- and 9th-grade student visits to the five Berks County college campuses during each school year. The visits focus on the necessary steps students must take to prepare for college. Topics include recommended high school courses, financial aid, and appropriate study habits. A tour of the college campus is also provided.

The Coalition, in cooperation with the Higher Education Council of Berks County, facilitates meetings among high school teachers and college faculty each year focused on identifying strategies to improve high school students’ transition to college. The meetings include specific discussions with mathematics, science, and language arts faculty from the colleges and high schools.
